Community Engagement
New Jersey Thespians is deeply committed to community engagement through impactful initiatives like Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat and fundraising efforts for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and the EdTA Foundation. Through these outreach activities, NJ Thespians encourages students to use their passion for theatre to give back, fostering empathy, social responsibility, and community connection.
NJ TOTS-Eat
A Statewide Food Drive Initiative
In New Jersey, we remain committed to this worthwhile cause of collecting non-perishable foods on Halloween to support our local communities in need during the holidays. New Jersey Thespians offers several awards for schools that participate in NJ TOTS-Eat. The school that collects the most pounds of non-perishable food items receives a plaque each year at the New Jersey Thespian Festival. All schools that participate will be honored on stage at the New Jersey Thespian Festival Closing Ceremony.

What do we do together makes a difference!
The Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) is thrilled to announce a new philanthropic partnership with Broadway Cares. Together, we’re uniting to use the power of theatre to make a difference—both onstage and off.
This partnership brings together two organizations committed to building stronger communities through the arts.
What we can do to help:
-
At the NJ State Thespian Festival, we are going to make a difference. We host a Broadway Flea Market where attendees can purchase Broadway programs, scripts, signed posters, and Broadway memorabilia. All of the money raised will be donated to BC/EFA and the EdTA Foundation.
-
We’re calling on Thespian troupes across the nation to amplify this mission in their own schools. Join the movement by clicking HERE.
